Lab#6

Lab#6 was very similar to Lab#5 because it required us to fill in our drawing with color. Instead of using the brush tool we had to use vector shapes which in my opinion was a bit more challenging. Although it may have been more challenging the vector shapes gave the edges a neater and straighter look. In addition, the tools I used were the rectangle, elliptical and custom shape tool which gave me the shapes to fill in my drawing.
This is relevant yo web design because it focuses on us having creativity and options such as using either the brush tool or vector shapes. The difference between these two options is that with the brush tool you have more freedom on where you want to paint. I see myself using these skills because it gives me the opportunity to work with different options rather than one.

Lab#5

Lab#5 was about coloring our sketches with the brush tool using Photoshop CS6. The painting had to be precise and neat. In addition, doing the lab helped introduce the use of new tools such as the eyedropper and pen tool. The eyedropper tools helps me recover color that I use to paint. I did this Lab by zooming into the pixels so that I don't be inaccurate with the colors. This is related to Web design because it helps us be created and precise towards our work. I see myself using these skills in the future because it helps towards other career opportunities than just Web Design.

Lab#1 Melon Head

Lab# 1 was about using the photoshop tools and 7 different images of fruits so that we can create a face that we were assigned and then create a face of our creativity. I completed this lab mainly using the elliptical marquee tool, move tool, quick selection tool and the magnetic lasso tool. The quick selection, elliptical marquee and magnetic lasso tool helped me cut out the fruits from the image. Also by using the move tool it allowed me to move the fruits to certain places so that I can create the fruit face.
Furthermore, I used the eraser tool which helped me erase unrelated pixels towards the fruit. This lab is related to Web Design because it helps us learn the skills we need for the future and have creativity towards our work. I used the Photoshop CS6 software to complete the lab. I see my self using these skills in the future because I will understand the task and have creativity towards my work. In addition, knowing these skills could be helpful when interested in another career rather than Web Design.

The 5 Types of Digital Files

TIFF( Tagged Image File Format)- creates large files sizes and contains detailed image data. They are very flexible when it comes to color and content such as layers and image tags.

JPG( Joint Photographic Experts Group)- images that have been compressed to store a lot of information in a small size file. They can take more photos on one camera card than you can  with other formats.

GIF( Graphic Interchange Format)- compresses images and is different to JPG since the compression is lossless

PNG( Portable Network Graphics)- created to replace GIF since no company wanted to pay for licensing fees and provides a better range of color and compression.

RAW- contains data from digital cameras and it's called RAW because the files haven't been processed which means it can't be edited or printed. Also it the files contain a vast amount data that is uncompressed.

Windows vs. Mac

Both Windows and Mac have their own strengths and weaknesses. today we learned their differences and with that knowledge it helped us compare both softwares and which is better. Mac is better because it's more organized and easier to multi-task. This is because when a tab is closed it doesn't stop running which means you can have work not saved and when close it and reopen it the work is still going to be there. Windows has also certain advantages against Mac like price and compatabilities towards other devices.

Who am I? And why am I here?

My name is Jason Jerez and I am 14 years old. I am Ecuadorian and Mexican. I have a family with 2 sisters and a dog. I am a determined and hard working when it comes to school and helping my family. I've worked hard and kept my GPA high so that I have the chance of being part of the Web Design academy.                                                                                                                                          I am here so that I can learn something about technology for my future. Being in Web Design is a huge opportunity in which only selected students have a chance of being a part of. Also in the Web Design academy I would like to learn how to create Webpages professionally and earn experience. In addition, I would like to understand the no copy right system and analyzing photograph.

During my time at the Web Design academy I will try my hardest and put all effort  towards assignments and classwork. Furthermore, I am eager to work with my classmates and help each other when needed. I'm hoping to progress in skill and learn something new that will benefit me in my future.
