The 5 Types of Digital Files

TIFF( Tagged Image File Format)- creates large files sizes and contains detailed image data. They are very flexible when it comes to color and content such as layers and image tags.

JPG( Joint Photographic Experts Group)- images that have been compressed to store a lot of information in a small size file. They can take more photos on one camera card than you can  with other formats.

GIF( Graphic Interchange Format)- compresses images and is different to JPG since the compression is lossless

PNG( Portable Network Graphics)- created to replace GIF since no company wanted to pay for licensing fees and provides a better range of color and compression.

RAW- contains data from digital cameras and it's called RAW because the files haven't been processed which means it can't be edited or printed. Also it the files contain a vast amount data that is uncompressed.
